An Viet Phat, Phu Tai, Uniexport, Eastwood and A Chau ACE are the top 5 big player in wood pellet in Vietnam recently. They are accounting for around 50% of wood pellet supply amount in Vietnam. The graph below shows the market share of wood pellet suppliers in Vietnam from 2021 to the previous month.
As it can be seen in the graph that there is a decline in the market share of the top 5 suppliers in Vietnam. This due to the significant reduction of An Viet Phat. The other suppliers such as Uniexport and Phu Tai is growing in the market share.
The supply for Japanese market is dominated by the top 6 suppier, which is around 70% of total volume export to Japan. Phu Tai supply around 20% of the volume export to Japan. An Viet Phat reduces significantly from the top supplier to become small player in 2023 & 2024. This could be caused by FSC issue of An Viet Phat. Uniexport is growing the market share of wood pellet volume to Japan market.
Vietnam is increasing the amount and market share to Japanese market. However, Korean market is declining in pellet supplied from Vietnam. The reasons is the Russian pellet is replacing Vietnamese pellet in the Korean market.
Note that the data in this graph could be higher than the volume of wood pellet supply from Vietnam to Japan in ITC trademap. The reason is some big shipments sold to USA and European buyer, then they are shipped to Japan under those buyer, instead of Vietnam suppliers.
